A Message to Our Members & Partners

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is both a privilege and a profound responsibility to serve as the President of the Nepalese Society of Radiotherapy and Oncology. NESRO represents the collective dedication of radiation oncologists, medical physicists, radiotherapy technologists, and all healthcare professionals committed to advancing cancer care in our nation.

Over the decades, we have witnessed transformative progress in radiotherapy and oncology in Nepal. From the establishment of the first linear accelerator services at BPKMCH Bharatpur to the expansion of treatment centers across provinces, our society has been at the heart of this evolution. Yet the work is far from complete.

Cancer remains one of the most significant public health challenges in Nepal. The burden of the disease continues to grow, and access to quality radiotherapy remains limited in many parts of our country. It is our collective responsibility to bridge this gap — through policy advocacy, education, research, and the clinical excellence that each of you demonstrates every day.

NESRO's priorities in the coming years are clear: strengthening postgraduate training through the Nepal College of Radiotherapy and Oncology (NCRO), enhancing our clinical practice guidelines, expanding the reach of our annual NESROCON scientific conference, and publishing rigorous research through the Journal of Nepal Clinical Radiotherapy and Oncology (JNCRT).

I urge every member — new and senior alike — to actively participate in the society's academic and clinical programs, to mentor the next generation of specialists, and to champion equitable cancer care in your regions. Together, we are not just treating disease; we are building a healthier, stronger Nepal.

With gratitude and resolve,

Dr. Gisupnikha Prasiko

President, NESRO
